This thing washed up on a beach in Montauk, on July 29, at the far eastern end of New York's Long Island. Ideas on what it is range from a sea turtle with no shell to a demon that crawled out of Hell. Eyewitnesses say that an old man carted the body off, saying he'd mount it on his wall. Time will tell if we ever find out what this was.

Palaeozoologist [[Darren Naish]] now thinks it is a raccoon.
