Simply a thread for quotes from musicians. It doesn't matter if it's something they've sang or opined.
"You have to become what you fancy" ___ Paperback Head - Teagan and Sara
I like this lyric better than the whole of the song. I think people are more successful when they "become" something they like or are interested in.

Dang! Didn't even see this topic! Great quote to start the topic off, MIB. I've never actually consciously thought these words, but in the back of my mind, it's a perspective I've always tried to maintain.
This is a line from my favorite song of all time. What I love most about this song is the fact that you feel more like a witness rather than a listener. I can listen to this song, all day, every day and still get chills to the bone when Jim goes into Oedipal Complex. Here is, quite possibly, my favorite music verse of all time...
"The Killer Awoke Before Dawn............. He Put His Boots On"

^ That is a cool quote J...
While Man in Black is not my favorite Cash song it has pretty much my favorite lyrics of all time. They are just so "me".
These are where I got my online moniker from...
"Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day, And tell the world that everything's OK, But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back, 'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black."

I do love God's Gonna Cut You Down. Don't know if that's my favorite Cash song, though. A Boy Named Sue and Folsom Prison Blues are definitely among the top. I've been digging some of the older country music songs, lately. Particularly Hank Williams. My favorite country music song of all time, is Ramblin' Man. If you haven't heard Hank Williams sing this one, I recommend giving it a listen.
"I love you, baby, but you've gotta understand When the Lord made me, he made a ramblin' man."

^ It's a requirement to live in the South that you have to have heard all of Hank's songs ;D
"Always had more dogs than bones" __ Tom Petty - Square One

Since we're doing Tom Petty ( ) I'm gonna go with, "That's the last time you're gonna hurt me" - Tom Petty.

^ Amen to that brother!
Here's a long one from [[Arcade Fire]]
Wake Up
Somethin' filled up my heart with nothin', someone told me not to cry.
But now that I'm older, my heart's colder, and I can see that it's a lie.
Children wake up, hold your mistake up, before they turn the summer into dust.

Have you heard that Tom Petty song? It's off of his Mojo album that came out this year! Great song, they've still got it. I'm going to have to give 'Wake Up' a listen. I've been listening to Chevy Van a lot lately. It's one of the first songs I ever remember hearing along with Buddy Holly, Hank Williams and J. Frank Wilson... Here's a quote from Chevy Van, by Sammy Johns "Her young face was like that of an angel her long legs were tanned and brown Better keep your eyes on the road, son Better slow this vehicle down"

I heard two of the Mojo songs he did on Saturday Night Live, but I can't remember what the names were. I've been holding out buying the album until I find an affordable vinyl copy... I'm thinking that's not gonna happen. Petty is one of the few musicians I'll actually buy the album anymore... I'll just get the record then download the mp3's somewhere, just to support the musicians.
Can't say I've heard of Chevy Van, I'll have to check that out.
You probably have heard Wake Up - it was the highly played trailer song to Where the Wild Things Are

Listened to Chevy Van... not bad. I'd definitely not heard it before.
In honor of finally getting to see my favorite musicians... my favorite quote from one of their songs:
"It's under my skin but out of my hands" _ Woman in Chains - [[Tears for Fears]]

Janis Joplin has a pretty touching line in "Me And Bobby McGee"
"Well, I'd trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday"

Janis Joplin has a pretty touching line in "Me And Bobby McGee" "Well, I'd trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday" That's a good one. Kris Kristofferson does a good job on that song too as a Highwaymen tie-in. ;D
