Another NFL regular season lays it's head down without my Dolphins moving on... here's to every fan everywhere who is in the same boat as I am.Most of us have already googled mock draft, inquired about free agents and retiring players and thought aloud "maybe next year". Some of our coaches will be cleaning out their offices, some are happy with the rebuilding process and some are on that lonely island of in between... the "hot seat". Everyone of us has looked back on picks that might have been and picks we wished were dropped and picks that broke our heart. We've thought about that one play that might have gotten us over the hump, the one play that crushed our hopes and the one play that caused us to crush the remote - and the moment we realized that spoiler was now our tag. Hopefully you will all find a surrogate team to get behind for this new season, the season of live or die, one and done, where the hits are harder, the highs are higher and the lows are tickets to watch next week. Yes, pick a new hero, it's OK for now, just for a time so that we can have just one more chance to rise or fall emotionally with these highly paid gladiators, extending this ride for a few more weeks until the rain of cheers and confetti and the reign of a new champion we all wish we had in our own city. Cheers fans, knock one back and relax... we've earned it, and we will again next year... starting in April when the commish says "with the first pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams select..."

Ah, the barrel man. It's a shame he passed away a few weeks ago. So many deaths in 2009. They say it comes in 3s, but in 2009, it came in dozens. I've never been more disappointed with the way Denver has played in my entire life. Denver has only given me hope for 4 straight seasons, but somehow manage to completely blow it. The only thing that has been truly proven already, is the fact that John Elway did carry this team. For me, it just further solidifies his rank as the #1 quarterback of all time. What scares me is a simple question. Will I ever experience, in my lifetime, what we had in Denver with John Elway? I'm not expecting another quarterback half of what John Elway was, but will I ever experience the success? The multiple Super Bowl appearances every decade, the AFC West titles or the heart and soul that we had? It's scary. Very scary. I've been an avid Broncos fan my entire life. I've never experienced a downfall like this and it is an extremely crushing blow to fall like this every season. Not just falling every season, but failing miserably. We've failed in unimaginable ways twice in a row. The first 6-0 team to finish 8-8. I just want things to be set right in Denver. I want to see a playoff berth once in a blew moon, at least. I'm tired of the constant consecutive failures year after year. I want to prove we can get a ring without John Elway. I want teams and fans to look at Denver and fear them. I miss those days and it's taking it's toll. Come on, Denver.

Come on now lol... this thread was supposed to cheer us all up. Don't you think it's cool how your picture of the wacky Denver fan fits right in with all the rest all the pros took?
And at least you get to remember a couple SB wins... I know how it is though, I can relate with my Tarheel basketball. Even though they were national champs again last year it still feels like a tremendous kick in the gut when they go and lose to Charleston...ugg!
I'm still saying for both of us... just wait till next year! Our teams might be facing each other in the AFC championship game or at least a playoff game of some sort. I think we have back to back picks in the draft too... doesn't Denver pick 11th?

Denver picks wherever Chicago is ranked. Which is probably around 11 or so. Which is good! Hopefully we can get a couple of powerhouse offensive players to get us going. It's amazing how we made a complete 180 with the offense and defense. Our defense turned into one of the best in the league and our high powered offense fell pretty hard. I don't even know who to begin to think about wanting in Denver, though. I just want a playoff berth!

We went through that when Marino left. With Dan our D couldn't stop anything and then they went with trying to build it up with a power run game. We did get somewhat of a power run game with Ricky, but man it was a strange difference going from 42 - 38 games all the way down to 13 - 9 games. I kind of like it like that as I've always been a smashmouth kind of guy... but it really sucks if you are losing... I think it sucks more to me with the tight struggles.

Ah, well. Let's just hope we meet in the AFC Championship game. That'd be a great experience for both of us, I'm sure.
