It usually falls #1 on almost EVERY list of terrifying movies. It's, without a doubt, my #1. The title should have ran through your mind by now.. It's The Exorcist. I first saw this film when I was 13. By this time I had pretty much gotten over the little scares we get as children. I was able to sleep without a night light easily. But when I saw this film, it put me right back in that terrified mindset. It hit me hard. Forget about night lights, I could have never slept with JUST a night light. For the next month I slept with the 40 watt bulb blaring in my room. It's been nearly 8 years and I have fully gotten over it. But I will never forget my first Exorcist experience.

Most people do say the Exorcist, that's for sure.
Mine has to be [[Communion]] - the true (supposedly) story of [[Whitley Strieber's ]]encounter with aliens - Christopher Walken played Strieber.
Mostly because it was like one a.m. and I fell asleep in a pitch black house just after watching the film. Then my sister got home and stuck her head in my door and me being half alseep visualized an alien head peeping at me like in the movie. I almost jumped out my window.

^ I kinda want to see it again now too.
Where do you think Paranormal Activity ranks? It's got to be in the top 5 at least for me if not number 2.
I'm planning to watch The Exorcist if I get a chance this week. I can't remember when I saw it last.

Well... Around the time I saw it, I had it up there just behind The Exorcist, but after a few weeks, I'd probably rank it around #5? I'll have to see it again to rank it properly, though. It'll probably go right up to number 2 again. Here's my top as of right now.. 6) Black Christmas 5) Paranormal Activity 4) The Haunting 3) Halloween 2) Psycho 1) The Exorcist

When I rank movies, I try to place myself in the era it was made. Nobody had ever seen a film like Psycho in 1960. Very few horror films ever have such an effect that people become physically ill after seeing it.
And Halloween! In 1978 nobody had ever seen a psychotic killer like that, not to mention no matter what they did, he just kept getting back up. That's creepy!! The Haunting just overcame the test of time. After watching that movie, just about every creak and groan in a house will make you think of it. I think Black Christmas is sorely underrated. I can't say too much about it. It'll be a pretty big spoiler. But I do recommend this one.
For Paranormal Activity, I don't need to consider the time this movie was made, because we're living it right now! I never thought I'd see a new movie that would actually have an effect on me. Paranormal Activity did. How can you not be creeped out by these scenes? (Spoilers coming up!) When Katie gets up and stands over Micah's sleeping body for hours and hours, it just leaves you feeling so helpless. When Micah picks up the camera to go and find where she went and sees her just sitting there, in the middle of the night, pitch black, sitting on the swing... just swinging..... How can anyone not be creeped out!! Haha. I jt's almost hard to believe that some people weren't effected at all by this. Oh well, though. People have different tastes.

Paranormal Activity is just so real seeming that it is creepy because it is almost like you are seeing the stuff happen in real life. That's why I was preturbed a bit because of my friend's commentary that kept me from really getting into it - that said it still was creepy. I'll give it a few years to wear off in my memory then I'll try it again.

Not a bad idea. That's the kind of thing I do with my all time favorite films. Watch them and wait another year or two before I watch them again. I never want to adjust to the experience!
