It's good to see I'm not the only one out there who cares for animals like this.
Just a few months ago, I pulled into a gas station to get some gas and noticed a kitten, just 4 months old or so, sitting at the edge of the curb by the busiest street in the city. I had nothing to do, so I went and bought some canned kitten food and fed the kitten. It would NOT let me come near, but meowed loudly and followed me from a distance. I spent six hours trying to capture the kitten and find a nice home for him, (I'm sure I looked like a moron to people driving by) but when the sun started to rise, I finally gave up and called animal control. I explained there was a young kitten playing near traffic. They said their team would be right on it. I went back quite often to see if I could still see the kitten, but I never did. I hope they got the kitten and found a home for him!

That's cool, I've rescued a few dogs like that, but I can't ever get a cat to come near me either. Around here I'm like the turtle first responder LOL... I stop and take the box turtles out of the road and put them on the other side. Morons are always running them over just to hear them pop. You have to put them out of the road on the side they were headed to though because if you don't they will just go back across again. I found one in the city where my sister lives the other day. I have no idea how it got in a city street, but I put her in some leaves in the back of my truck and brought her home to release. She was young, but had scuff marks and scars all over her shell so I know she had a rough life, hopefully she has it easy now. You know me I had to take a few pictures before she got out of sight. For some reason the pics won't post so the link to the gallery is below if anyone cares hehe... the teenage non-mutant she-turtle is at the bottom of the gallery. imageevent.com/afap/photographix/westernnorthcarolinawnc/wncwesternnorthcarolina

2 pigeons broke their wings in my front yard within just a couple of weeks. The first one I took in. He couldn't walk too well either and every place I called said they only put down pigeons. So I took care of this one for about a week before he died. The next one wouldn't come near me. He would hang around the house but when it came to seeing me it would run. Fast! Haven't seen him for a while. :/

I don't see too many pigeons here, there are a few at the lake, under the bridge where the river comes in.
My latest rescue was a long black snake. He was laying across a road and picked him up with a stick and put him on the side. He tried to bite my Jeep tire like 5 times. It was kind of funny, I don't know what he thought the tire was, but he was more mad at it than me.
