My girlfriend is a huge fan of The Phantom of the Opera. So I scored us some awesome seats, about 7 rows down, to see the play at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, California. After the play, we stayed at a Motel 6 and walked around Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard all day.
Here's the view of the Pantages Theater from the street. We were inside my Mazda b3000.
The view of the theater from the sidewalk. Right before the show began.
You can actual see Stacey this time!
The next few were taken right after the show. Which went extremely well. I was impressed. Stacey, of course, loved it.
This was taken right outside the doors of Pantages after the show.
I think they were doing construction where this photo was taken.
Stacey, across the street from Pantages. It's already caged off.
There's me. Same spot.
One more of Stacey!
She knew I had to be excited about the Friday the 13th remake coming out. I tried so hard to keep from getting excited about it. I didn't want to have great expectations, but luckily, it was a much better film than I expected. They were marketing this movie quite a bit down in Hollywood.
Here's a shot of us outside the theater!
One last shot of Pantages before we left!
Here's a shot of me in front of Denny's. Stacey and I have been to so many different Denny's around California. This was our first Hollywood Denny's. No, that's not an earring under my right ear.
Here's Stacey!
This place was amazing. They have the actual hallway and jail cells that were used in the film The Silence of the Lambs (One of my favorite films ever made) at the bottom inside their basement. VERY creepy down there. I wish they allowed cameras. It had so much. The actual gloves used in Rocky. The bike from Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Jason Voorhees' outfit in Part VI. One of my favorite Friday the 13th's. The Michael Myers' outfit in Halloween IV, I believe it was. So many more other things.
Random picture of us on our walk around Hollywood!
The following are stars from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Alfred Hitchcock. My favorite director.
Chevy Chase! The funniest man alive!
Probably the greatest sitcom ever made.
Tom Hanks is such a talented actor. One of my personal favorites.
His work in Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, The Green Mile and many others still amaze me.
Jack Nicholson. One of the most talented actors ever.
This is my favorite band of all time and more than likely always will be. I could go on forever about them.
I deeply admired his work in The Silence of the Lambs. I just had to get a picture.
Who could forget his performance in Psycho? Not me. That's for damn sure. The Silence of the Lambs and Psycho are my two favorite films.
Here's where many stars cement their names in the ground.
Morgan Freeman.
George Clooney
Johnny Depp
Sam Jackson. The baddest man in film.
In that bag is the film Dial M For Murder. A very under-rated Hitchcock thriller.
Tom Hanks
Denzel Washington. Another personal favorite of mine. The best acting I've ever seen in a film was when he and Hanks teamed up for Philadelphia. Amazing film. And who can forget Remember the Titans?
James Stewart. Kinda weird to see a guy my age this into classic films and actors, isn't it?
Peter Sellers played 3 incredible performances in Dr. Strangelove that I've admired for quite a while.
Stacey's foot compared to Judy Garland. She must've been a tiny lady!
Stacey's hand compared to Christopher Walken's
The Guinness World Records Museum.
Here I am standing next to a sculpture of Robert Wadlow. The worlds tallest man. Just a shade under 9 feet tall. He died at 22 and was still growing. What's even crazier, is I'm actually standing on a different level of ground. I'm about 3 inches taller to him than I appear to be.
Here's Stacey next to him. How amazing.
Now it's on to the world's smallest woman. I don't think she was even up to Wadlow's Shin!
A random fake wall. I may have missed something, but where the holes say "Don't Look in here", I only saw black.
Stacey and Elvis. What a womanizer
Stacey has an admiration for Marilyn Monroe. Here she is with Marilyn's star.
The Hollywood Wax Museum. This was a very interesting place.
Here I am with the Wizard of Oz gang.
Wait Vanessa, I can explain. You see, I was looking for Dr. Evil when the Fembots came out and smoke started coming out of their jomblies. So I started to work my mojo, to counter their mojo; we got cross-mojulation, and their heads started to explode!
Freddy vs. Jason 2: The Unfortunate Victim
It really looks like Jason's coming after me.
Had to get Freddy in there doing the robot.
Unfortunately, for Stacey, it appears that Bela Lugosi is alive and well.
This is how you know it's fake. They could never get Hannibal Lecter back in jail. He's too intelligent!
Stacey and I passed by a random monster..... We just had to get eaten by it before we moved on.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was very disturbing. What a setup.
Curses! I can't put my finger on where this statue is from.
Stacey's a big fan of Beetle Juice!
Stacey tried reaching in toward Pinhead, but didn't realize there was a protective screen there. The atmosphere was very creepy in the horror area, and the reaction on her face was priceless when her hand hit the screen!
Here's Pinhead.
The Crypt Keeper... SO detailed
Hello, Kiddies!
Wow... Michael looks ready to kill.
I'd hate to have to deal with that!
Annnnd.... Stacey's next...
Looks like he's had a long night.
So there I was, in the middle of a dark corridor in the creepy atmosphere of the Wax Museum admiring a statue of The Darkman when I turn around and see this.... WOW my nerves froze...
The Power of Christ Compels You!
That's much too vulgar display of POWER, Karras!
Honestly, I can't put into words how terrifying this film was to me when I first saw it at 13. Practically seeing it right there, in person, made me re-live that same appreciation for the film. What a shocker.
If I'd have seen this after first watching the film, I'd probably be traumatized.
Honestly, these things are so realistic. We were just waiting for Sam jackson to jump at us and scare us. "Boo, Muthaf**ka!"
Here's the statue of Will Ferrell from Talladega Nights
And here's Sam Jackson. Staying perfectly quiet and still.
Strong with the force, young Stacey is.
Sarah Connor?
Wax statues of Ben Affleck and Angelina Jolie... Matthew McConaughey was being a little weenie and had to peek in the shot.
Haven't actually seen the new Willie Wonka film with Johnny Depp... It must have been good enough to achieve wax history!
We're looking for Ray Finkle!
Stacey and Ace!
Hello. My name's Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump.
Go f**k yourself, San Diego!
The Beverly Hillbillies!
I'm the king of the world!!!!
Stacey and King Leonidas!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this was a very important part of history?
Stacey and Spider Man!
Donatello and Michelangelo!
Stacey and Raphael. My personal favorite growing up!
The Men in Black and I
Apparently, Stacey was worthy enough for The Men in Black to allow her to take a photo WITH them.
Luke.............. Turn off the flash!
They've got a License to Kill!
We'll take a Martini. Shaken... Not stirred.
The end result of the Wax Museum!
The Doors recorded 6 albums. Their fifth (and quite possibly my favorite of their albums) was Morrison Hotel. Right behind that glass is where the band was sitting when they took the picture that's on the cover of that album.
Our last stop before heading home!
What a delicious diner. I loved that burger. To top it off, it had a 50's style theme to it. I just had to play some Buddy Holly on the jukebox! I finished it off with Don McLean's tribute song to Buddy Holly, American Pie. What's amazing, is that Buddy Holly died exactly fifty years to the day that we saw Phantom of the Opera!
Stacey, looking beautiful as always. I'll never get over it.
The last Coke before the road home!
Here's the view of the Pantages Theater from the street. We were inside my Mazda b3000.
