The town of Hesperia rarely ever gets snow. We'll see snow on average once every few years. And it rarely ever sticks. A huge snowstorm hit Hesperia in December and left over 20 inches of snow. It pretty much snowed for about 24 hours straight. Maybe even more. 12-17-08 What a way to start your day. You can barely see behind me. A little creepy Look like something out of a children's Christmas book I'm lucky the tree didn't fall on me 12-18-08 Believe it or not, the snow actually formed that giant you-know-what. Can you see it? It's amazing how snow can make anything beautiful. Normally this tree is much taller. Throughout the town, after the snow began to clear, you would see trees ripped down from the weight of the snow. A shot of my '74 Chevy pick-up... annnd....... the snow monster again. This was actually an icicle that formed over a wooden bench. Look at that emblem!

That's awesome that you got to see some snow. It has been years since we have had snow like that. We always get that horrible freezing rain that knocks out the power for days. Thank goodness we got none of that this winter.
I feel the same way about snow... it can make everything look beautiful. I've always said that a blanket of snow is God's way of reminding us he can cover up any of the mess we've made at any time... if only for a short while.

I don't think I'll ever get to see snow like that again unless I move to Colorado.

Your old truck is older than my old truck It's almost as old as me... but not quite. My first car was a '74 Comet. Does your truck still run? Mine's an '88 Ford. She's rusty but she's been all over this country from Mexico to Indiana and lots of other spots in between. I'm thinking of painting it black, but that'll be a lot of effort. Jeez. Sorry it took so long before I noticed this! Yeah, it still runs, but it has it's problems. Probably from all that random street-light racing I did with it. On a side note, it's never lost! It's beaten a 2006 mustang and a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo (My friend and I raced)! He wasn't too happy.

Streetlight racing? You did/do that? I've never seen that. I mean I've outrun a few chumps at redlights, but never for real. I'd like to see that... something we don't really ever get to see out here in the sticks. I've done a few races from A to B back when I had my Comet - my Grandfather had a souped up V-8 engine in it. And outran the law a few times in it... (not something I'm proud of now lol). But, I've never done or seen any street racing like that... probably because we really don't have streets... just roads lol.

Haha! No, I've never actually done it for real, but when someone signals me to race them, I'll always do it and have never lost. I was driving one night in my 1999 Mazda b3000. 2 kids were in a rice burner. (You know, those goofy Honda's that sound like they have bad gas? ) One of the kids was hanging out the passenger window just glaring at me. He said, "Hey, do you wanna race or something?" like a total jerk. I said, "heh, not really". Then he made some smart ass remark about being a badass or something weird. Which really irritated me. I noticed their car was manual, just like mine. I believe I'm a pretty skilled driver and I figured even though they had the more powerful engine, I could probably manage the transmission better than they could, So I said, "You know what, f*** it. Let's do it". So the kid crawled back into the car and rolled the window up. The light turned green and I smoked 'em, bad! I almost thought they weren't even trying to race. I hope I damaged their ego a little bit. Beating them in a little v6 Mazda truck. Haha!

Perfect!
My favorite moment like that was once in Hendersonville, NC (45 min away) 3 of us were riding with a friend in his Eclipse. We stopped at a light after a movie right as a cop slowly eased over the hill in front of us.
The timing was just right that when the goofballs that pulled up beside us came to a stop, they never saw the police. They were in another fast car, I don't remember what, but they hung out the window and raced their engine and all that.
My friend James (the driver) started taunting them and racing his engine and the race was on. The light turned green and James slammed the breaks, the gas and first gear all at the same time causing a terrific screeching that echoed through town.
The other car shot over the hill like a rocket and we just sat there for about thirty seconds then slowly made our way over the hill enjoying the blue light special scene starring our new buddies. We all gave them the one finger howdy and headed off to Denny's for some bad service and heartburn.
