What's your favorite ghost story? It can be a classic, like the hitch-hiker who disappears when you get her to her destination, or a local story that you grew up on. Either way, share it here please!!!! Here are some great links for popular stories: NC Ghost StoriesTrue Ghost Stories- make sure to check out their pictures as well, like the one above! My personal favorite ghost story is the Brown Mountain Lights story. I've loved it since I was a kid. It's sort of local to where MIB and I grew up - in the North Carolina Mountains. And once, MIB, his wife, and I all went to a look-out to try and see the lights. We saw what we thought were some and MIB got a video of it. The trip was worth it either way for me, since it's always interested me. Anyway, here's the story: At night, for years and years, lights have been seen bobbing across Brown Mountain. The mountain itself is not incredible. It's not high in elevation. But mystery has surrounded it for centuries. From a good lookout, one can see lights on the mountain once night falls. This would be unremarkable, except that the lights move with no rhyme or reason. A car you say? Nope. The lights were around before cars. Light reflected from a nearby passing train? Nope. The lights were around before then, too. There are many legends behind the lights. Some say it's a girl looking for her lost lover. Some say they go back to when only Cherokee lived there and that the lights belong to them. Many scientists (from places as distinguished as the Smithsonian) have been called in to debunk the lights, citing reflections or swamp gases, but no satisfactory answer has been provided. See, the thing about the lights is that they just don't "appear." They move, they bob, they progress across the mountain. More than one can be seen at a time. Sometimes the lights rise and fall, and fade away. Nothing scientific can explain that away. And maybe that's why I love this story so much - it's still a mystery. Wow! What a story. It's interesting to know you both witnessed it yourselves. Stories like these are what make me believe in ghosts. Not only that, but witnessing one myself is pretty convincing. I don't think I have a favorite Ghost Story. But I recommend seeing the movie Ghost Story. It came out in 1981 and I just got it on DVD. I've had it on VHS for a long time

Well, because I've seen them for myself this is probably my favorite ghost story also. Here are the pictures from that night. These are vidcaps from the video I took. They have not been altered in any way except for the normal contrast adjustment. The Brown Mountain Lights I went ahead and posted our account of seeing the BML in its own thread here. vblackhole.proboards84.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=pie&thread=129&page=1
