Lol, I'd love a Harley but I don't think my Jeep would pay for one. ;D My uncle is going to fix my Jeep for me. We are looking for a used engine right now, so that will be the only cost. Congrats on that new baby in the family Val

^Picked a bad one to watch I am truly experiencing the meaning of being stuck today. Not that I'm not usually always stuck here at home... but yesterday Marii came home crying. She had been trying to get gas all day and couldn't find any... even after waiting in really long lines. Today she left for work with not enough gas to get home. It's really sad that it has come to this, but I think we all knew it would. They are telling people not to go anywhere except work and a lot of govt. officials are being told to work at home. Some places say they've only got enough fuel for emergency services for another week. How is the gas situation for everyone else?

Oh I think I am missing something here. Why are you guys having such a hard time getting gas? Have you guys had some sort of storm or something? Is this because of the hurricane? Gee I sure hope things get better for you all very soon!!!

I live in Georgia and we have had some problems getting gas but it seems to be some better now. Yeah, I think it's all because of hurricane Ike.

Yeah, it's all because of Ike. We don't have much gas here in NC - it's apparently pretty bad here. I drove to work and back today with my gas light. On the way home, I tried to find some gas - everywhere I saw had really long lines. When I got home, the station on the corner had gas so my fiance and I got in line. We "only" waited for an hour and fifteen minutes before we got some gas. The station across the street opened and got swamped while we were getting groceries. Supposedly, they are going to release a shipment across the state to help out, but officials say that it could take a few days after that before people stop freaking out over the gas. So hopefully by next week, we'll be back to normal, but I won't hold my breath. And I know what you mean, MIB. We haven't gone anywhere this week other than work and the grocery store. No fun for us! At least there's TV and the computer!!! Actually, the whole thing is ridiculous in my opinion. But what can I do about it? Click WSOC to read info from our local news station.

Being in Utah, we don't get so much as a raindrop from storms in the Gulf. There's only one time I was at a station that ran out of gas. And it was only one station because they had the best (lowest) price and didn't anticipate how much they would sell. Ended out going to another one after getting a whole 3 cents of gas in the tank. Gas prices are finally $3.59 for the 87 octaine, which is what I use.
There has been a change of weather here with winter coming on. As a result, I've got a cold. A bad one. But I still need to work tomorrow. And Saturday. And Sunday, which really sucks. I tried putting in a change of availability at work so I don't have any availability on Sundays and they wouldn't accept it. That issue's being worked on.
A couple of weeks ago, I borrowed my sis-in-laws shoes to take a diaper to the trash. Her feet are a half size smaller than mine. As a result, I pulled a ligament in my foot. At least it doesn't hurt as much today as last week, but I had the day off and was lazy with my cold. I cross my fingers that there's another BYU game this weekend so it's not very busy again. The last 2 Saturdays were absolutely dead. I believe it was because of BYU games. I live 20 minutes away from Lavelle Edwards (formerly Cougar) Stadium for BYU.
Well, sounds like my laundry's done so I'd better get it to the dryer and get to bed. Just wanted to pop in and say hey there!

Hi Lynne...
Blackcat, I'm glad the gas shortage didn't affect your trip... it pretty much is all because of Ike and maybe a bit from Gustav... it's indirectly though - meaning we didn't get any bad weather, we just got the effects because for whatever reason they are not shipping any gas here at the moment.
Marii finally got some gas (enough for this work week) but it was after a 2 and half hour wait. Evidently, according to the news, Western North Carolina is the worst place in the nation right now, but all the southeast is having problems as you can tell by Bella's and Desertpunk's posts. Hopefully they will have it straightened out by next week.

Still waiting for the gas situation to get better here... I'm assuming we have more gas because I've seen more stations with LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG lines yesterday and today, but obviously we're still short because on my way home from work tonight, every station I passed was OUT of gas. So... hopefully it'll be better soon!
Hope you're feeling better, Lynne!

Hey guys - Just a request here. Please keep us in your thoughts the next few days. Don't know if you've heard, but Wachovia was just bought by Citigroup, Well, that's where my fiance works. We're pretty unsure of how it will affect him right now, because he works on the customer service side of things. But please just keep us in mind - this is a big deal for us, and it's a big deal for our city as well. Wachovia is headquartered here in Charlotte so this could negatively affect a lot of things around here, even if he gets to keep his job.
Anyway, just thought I'd put in a request!

I will definitely be thinking and praying for you guys. My husband and I went through a similiar situation about a year ago. He used to work for a German owned company that bought out an American owned company. The strange thing is the German owned company let all of the management from the American owned company run their company. Personally, it seemed like a very poor decision to let a crappy company that was about to go out of business run the German owned company but that's the way they wanted things. To make a long story short, my husband could see the writings on the wall. It was only a matter of time before he lost his job. Thank God he found a job with a much better company than what he used to work for. Now he works for a fortune 500 company and bringing home twice the pay. I guess what I am trying to say is sometimes it hard to see why things happen but I truly believe the Lord will look out for you guys. I pray that if your husband does lose his job that he gets a much better one and is able to provide even better for his family. As for the gas situation, I feel very fortunate and terrible for you guys at the same time. I had no idea all of that was going on. I know that seems a bit naive but I do not usually get to watch much TV or even watch the news. I pray all gets better soon for all of you!!!

Lol BC... don't feel bad about not knowing... I live here and didn't know we were running short until Marii came home upset about it. I was like "what are you talking about?" Then I felt bad for being sort of out of the loop. I was wondering about the Wachovia thing Bella. Mom and I were talking about it today. I hope it works out for you, like BC said - sometimes these changes make things better and there is no need fretting over it until it actually gets bad anyway. Just worry about it when it happens and everything will be alright. Just enjoy the clouds and smile when the silver lining breaks through. It just makes me angry that all those greedy banks and companies have been so dishonest for so long that now us working folks have to worry their worries for them.

Thanks guys. All he could get at work today was "Well, no one is getting fired today." Gee, thanks. Supposedly all the changes will be made by the beginning of the year, but that just makes me worry that he'll lose his job right in time for Christmas! Oh well. Like you said, MIB, not much we can do till it happens!
As for gas, I think things are getting "better." ha ha ha. I only had to wait in line for 30 minutes to get gas today!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

We are headed out to Lake Marion in SC (about 2 hours away) to stay in a cabin for 4 days. We should be back Thursday.
My Mom is taking us out there, I can't wait to get out of this house for awhile. The place is really cool, it's swampy with lots of cypress trees. The cabins in a small bay on a giant pier out over the water.
